What Are Carpet Stickers?
Carpet stickers are highly specialized decals designed to adhere to rugs and carpeting. They are crafted from custom printed vinyl material with an adhesive backing that adheres well on low-pile carpets, rugs, and vehicle carpets. The colorful carpet decals stand up well to foot traffic for up to six months of regular use.
Most commonly used in retail, events, showrooms, and tradeshows, rug stickers are perfect for temporary advertising usage. Carpet stickers have a non-slip laminate surface that can withstand normal wear and tear from pedestrian traffic for a 4-6 month average. Carpet stickers have many names; carpet graphics, carpet decals, rug stickers, or boat carpet decals.
The durability, non-slip surface, and waterproof qualities make carpet stickers ideal for fishing boats and other watercraft. Carpet graphics are traditionally applied on low-pile rugs and carpets for short-term advertising.
What Are Carpet Decals Made Of?
Carpet decals are printed on specially formulated 3.4 mil vinyl with a high-performance, pressure-sensitive adhesive on a 90# stay-flat liner. The combination of vinyl and adhesive allows the removability of the film from the most common commercial carpets for up to six months under normal exposure conditions.
In addition, the flexibility of rug stickers enables them to stand up to foot traffic on flexible carpeting without tearing. The carpet decals include GF 211 overlaminate to protect the graphics.
Carpet Decals vs. Floor Decals
Carpet and floor decals are very similar; however, both mediums are designed for different applications.
Carpet Decals
Carpet decals install on low-pile carpets and rugs, and vehicle carpets. A good rule of thumb is to ensure your carpet is tightly woven to ensure the carpet sticker’s vinyl is compatible before making a purchase. Carpet decals are not suited to tall shag or plush-style carpets and rugs.
Floor Decals
Floor decal graphics are designed to apply to most smooth surfaces, tile, linoleum, wood flooring, or even smooth sealed concrete. Floor decals are not compatible with installation on concrete or asphalt as these surfaces are not smooth. Choose sidewalk decals for these surfaces instead. Use our standard floor decals for graphics intended for smooth surface applications.
Compatible Application Surfaces for Carpet Stickers
Custom carpet graphics are an excellent solution for floor advertising. Although many styles of carpets are compatible with this product, always consider whether the installation area meets the carpet sticker vinyl requirements.
Tightly woven, low-pile carpets and rugs are the only acceptable style of carpeting that carpet stickers are compatible with. Low-pile carpets and rugs are traditionally used in offices, commercial buildings, and retail stores. Carpet Sticker Lifespan Factors
The following factors will help ensure that your carpet stickers last up to six months of foot traffic.
The carpet must be clean before application and firmly attached to the subfloor.

Best when stored at 70° F and 50% relative humidity.
Carpet Decals vs. Floor Decals
Carpet and floor decals are very similar; however, both mediums are designed for different applications.
Step #1
Peel back the adhesive cover on the backside of the carpet decal (non-printed side).
Step #2
Place the carpet graphic in the final position, and avoid abnormally high-traffic areas to ensure the most extended lifespan.
Step #3
Firmly press from the center of the design, flattening the vinyl to the carpet while working your way out to the graphics’ edges.
Step #4 Carpet Decal Removal
Before removing your carpet graphic, please remember that you cannot use it again. Carpet decals are not reusable.
Remove the carpet decal on or before six months to avoid leaving unwanted residue from the adhesive film. To remove your carpet sticker, select a side and carefully peel back a corner to separate the vinyl from the carpet. Then, continue gently pulling upward from one side of the graphic to the other. After removing the decal from the carpet, throw the sticker in the trash.
